He needs to go to OPQS, I'm sure Cav will give him a chance to sprint, and he says there needs to be trust, which he had with Cav, seeming to hint all is not as he expected/was promised at Blanco!

But he needs to get better first!

They are one of the teams, but I'm not sure who the others are. Also days he's been offered job as main sprinter and lead out guy, so it depends which way he wants to jump this time. He says he hasn't always had the support he thought he would have had at Blanco. On the parameters they are expected to operate in I'm on a daily basis, trust would be essential.

Operation this week, I guess when he can be safely moved. It sounds a nasty one, as it 's broken in more than one place. I guess something like Fabs last year. Back to fic verse, who is the natural pairing for Mark?

Would be interesting to see who the other teams were. Not sure about GreenEdge as they're close to the Cycling Australia set up and Renshaw had a big falling out with them over selection for the World's in 2011 - I mean who sends your best sprinter without a Cav approved 'best leadout man in the world'! Which would be kinda obvious as they're a Dutch team, and are known for preferring Dutch riders where possible.

I think he's back in Holland actually, due to have his collarbone op tonight. Well he did land hard and have a lot of guys land on him, I'm not surprised!

Mark tends to/used to get paired with Thor quite a lot of the time, cause it caused friction with Cav, that his leadout man was dating one of his fiercest rivals. Not so much is seen nowadays.

Offers from three teams, we are assuming one is OPQS. Who needs a spinter or top lead out man? Don't think he'd sign for a team that could offer no support. Lotto to work with Greipel? Sky? Carrots? ;) Orica would be the obvious choice being Aussie, but as you say maybe he doesn't want to go there.

Re Rabo/Blanco, you would have to think they said something about offering support to get him there in the first place. But it does seem obv that as soon as a Dutch sprinter stepped up then the lead choice would switch.

I can't imagine how much pain releif is required to travel with broken collarbone. Guess they just put in a plate and screw it all back together again.

Yes, making Cav jealous like that doesn't quite work as well these days. Ohhh how about Sagan and Mark going to Cannondale????

Unfortunately Rabo have a history of that, if there's a Dutch guy they'll always favour him and do what they can to help him, at least if he goes with Cav he knows what he'll get! If he did go to Orica it would likely be as leadout, as they already have quite a few sprinters - like Goss. And Greipel has his leadout sorted, and I think they all plan to stay. Noting a theme that all those 3 teams, the lead sprinter was at HTC!

Pain killers are good! When I was younger I broke mine, but my mum didn't think I'd done any serious damage and made me get in the car to drive to my grandma's who took 1 look at me and took me to hospital and found out i'd broken it! I do remember it being very difficult to get comfy though!

Not sure about that, guess it would depend which way Sagan decides to go in the long run.

Mind you, that might have to change, depending on who they get as a new main sponsor, particular if they are not Dutch. Hah! Yep he'll get the tantrums, the toys out of the pram, the brilliant, the best ever, the amazing sprinter that is Mark Cavendish. He knows him and it will be brill.

HTC did have the very best sprint train and sprinters out there. Was Ciolek HTC at one time?

Mums can be like that sometimes. mine was a nurse, we practically had to be dead to get off school. iIt was always, "you go now and if you are still poorly at lunchtime, you can come home".

Watching Sagan develop will be interesting, he has so many options and appears to be good at all of them.

Unfortunately its still up in the air, but at the moment they're Dutch still. At least he knows what he's getting himself into though!

Yup, Ciolek was there too! See lots of the best sprinters (and Henderson was there, he was sort of Greipels lead out there like he is at Lotto)

Yup, but I don't think he can keep on doing everything, or he'll burn out.

And then Bernie would have to be extra jealous because that would mean three of his boys were on the same team without him

I am tempted to say that he had his chance! But that would be unfair as I think Bernie likes it at Sky, and I do think they'll improve again next year in the classics.

Maybe he won't be jealous, because it will make it easier for him to keep in touch with everyone.

In Bernie's defence though, it was never him moving- everyone else left him so, really, they should feel bad for leaving Bernie on his own. Yeah, I definitely think Bernie likes it where he is

Or he'll be all 'Fine, you can have each other. I'll just spend all my time on the phone with George then.'

From what I've read the HTC breakup was never clear cut and if Cav had stayed then they may have had a new sponsor on board so Bernie prob would have stayed too and made a new team. Who knows, thing is Bernie is happy, Cav is happy (well happier than at Sky), Mark just needs to think where he can be happy at now.

Must be weird getting contracts, I guess they all have agents, but still all that worry about getting one on the right terms with the right team, can you trust the words that teams say re the support you'll get, can you get out of your contract if you are unhappy. and on top of that they have to race a bike.

Ohh a 'cutting his nose off to spite his face' Berniewould be a fine thing to see. George would like that, but Bernie would miss Tony in the end.

I always thought that if they had found a sponsor, then Cav would have stayed. I mean he was never going to get that total support he did at HTC anywhere else. It definitely seems to have worked out in the end, though (apart from Renshaw, but he'll be fixed after this season when he gets back to Cav)

TBH, though, I don't think Sky ever set out to hurt Cav like that. It just happened to be they didn't realise how much they'd actually need to support Brad and that had to come first. They should have realised, though. How many other teams managed to go for yellow and green at the same time? Like if it hadn't been for Robbie, Cadel might have won the Tour a long time ago. Or something like that

I think George might be able to distract Bernie long enough to fix everything and then they'd all be back together and everything would be okay

Yeah, it's a sort of chicken and egg thing really. Prob sponsorship hung on Cav being on board, and Cav couldn't really sign unless he knew what the deal was. Yes Renshaw needs to be happy and I hope he goes to OPQS.. if they have the money... and the room... who will they have to drop though?

Who knows? but yes, they certainly didn't start with a plan that said "Hah, lets's see how much we can mess Cav around". I think it was a case of too much to resist on both sides; but then the reality of getting yellow kicked in and they should have known that getting both was too much. I don't know the Robbie and Cadel story. But the team chose green over yellow?

Of course he would.

I still Cav would have chosen to stay at the end of the day
I just hope they do manage to find room for Renshaw somehow

At least they know now that they can't do both so no one else has to suffer like Cav did
It might not even be the same, but they clearly couldn't work for both either. They should have known it, too- having a sprinter as good as Robbie would obviously have meant less support for Cadel, but whatever. It doesn't seem like Robbie or Cadel had much of a problem with it, though, or they wouldn't have stayed on the same team for so long.
