As I understand it the Tour is The Place to negotiate new contracts...
So.. Have just seen this...
Don't know what Rigoberto is going to make of that.
what do we think?
Good or bad?
 that is all

Well, OPQS could do with a GC guy......

Date: 2013-07-04 10:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
They do.. But do they need two? Or three (assuming Frank Goes too)?
I suppose Uran can't ride all three GTs, or perhaps they'll be super doms for him. This still means Bernie can go too because they will need a jolly good road captain for sprints and GC and *all together now* Bernie is highly skilled at that.

From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
As amazing as Andy could be, though, even he couldn't win all the Grand Tours/stage races in a year.

Bernie's about the classics, though, and do they need him if they've got Tom? Plus, Bernie and Tom on the same team would probably be too much chaos

Date: 2013-07-04 10:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Well quite, so he could be with Uran in the same team and it would be like Chris and Brad... Ohhh that's a really bad analogy... What I mean is that they'll focus on diff things.

STOP BEING SENSIBLE AND RUINING MY DREAM :D
Yes the classics thing is a bit of a problem, but maybe Chava will retire or something... And Tom, I don't think there'd be a clash because ... Well. Bernie isn't Tom... so he'd obvs have to defer... But better to defer to Tom than EBH surely ;b
I'm sure the chaos could be managed... They'd just hire George or Jensie.

Date: 2013-07-04 10:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
As long as Uran doesn't think he's getting a look in at the Tour ;)

In future, I will not be sensible then
At least they'd win a bunch of the Classics with both Bernie and Tom though
Jens would join in the chaos and George would be too busy dealing with Cav

Date: 2013-07-04 10:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
He can have the giro or the Vuelta ... Don't think the Tour will suit him.. Too many long drags up mountains at constant pace. Def not th e tour which is Andy's by right.

That would be nice... Well you can be sensible if I get carried away into La la land, then you have permission to employ short, sharp slap to the face... And shout "get Real" very loudly.

They would... Which is more than sky.. Hahahah . umm or OPQS damn

This is true, also with Cav and George falling out *weeps* this may not be a good idea. I know...they could get Dave B to come... That would stop the shenanigans..

Date: 2013-07-04 11:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Andy's technically a former Tour winner too so he can use that to get his own way for what races he goes for

I can do that. Probably

OPQS just didn't win any this year because of bad luck- when Tom is on form, he's always up there

Cav and George won't stay fallen out for long. Probably. Brailsford has enough drama at Sky to bother worrying about anyone else

Date: 2013-07-05 09:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Yes... but we all know Uran Uran is the next great white hope... (not in my eyes, he is Sky tainted for me)

I'll hold you to it

Oh, I wasn't having a dig at OPQS, only Sky and their mad training technique. Of course Tom will be on form and back next year... hopefully

See I don't like that probably... at all

True, and it would be a shame to suck the fun out of OPQS

From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
I don't really have anything against him personally, but I still don't want him ruining Andy's party

:)

And hopefully Fabian will be on form again too and we can see one of their epic duels

I'm not intending for them to be apart forever, but they might go and change my mind depending on how things go

Indeed it would

From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
I have no rational reason for my dislike really, just got sick of the sight of him pulling pelotons along. Once he leaves Sky I'll maybe like him better.

I like the sound of an Andy party... bet they are loud and fabulous

George and Cav really can't help themselves.

Yes yes yes, I want to see Tom and Fab go head to head.. won't be too many years left for them to stay at the toip of their game.

Sad news about Christian VDV. Bloody awful crashes this year.
Also Frank S says he may sue someone (I am unclear who) about his contract (that he didn't have) not being renewed. Not sure who he can sue and on what grounds... Oh Frank...

Date: 2013-07-05 11:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Perfectly understandable

And with many drunk people falling into lakes ;)

They can't and I'm mad at them for it

No, there won;t be many more chances left and I want to see them being awesome together again

At least VDV will have Cap ready waiting at home for him

Yeah, I'm not really sure what Frank is thinking there, but then this might all be something blown out of proportion so we should wait and see

Date: 2013-07-05 01:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
i really should try harder, but just the sight of Kiryenka (superb though he is) has me grinding my teeth.

Yes, and fireworks, glitter and probably exotic animals and dancers.

Bad George and Cav, like you don't have enough to be doing...At least Brad and Dave are behaving.

That makes me smile a bit, and I don't know them that well. I like to think he'll meet him at the airport with a super hero T shirt on.

Indeed, because I've just read that Patrick Le Fevre has poo pood the idea of Andy joining OPQS.

Right off to watch the tour now... hope all the Astana are still on their bikes.. They are the new Euskatel (crash wise) and as unlucky as Garmin last year.

Date: 2013-07-05 01:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Just concentrate on Jens being awesome today then- that always helps

And lots and lots of sweets

It's an odd thing when Brad and Dave are the good ones

And probably pick him up in the Batmobile and VDV will be too tired to really care and, anyway, he loves Cap the way he is, even if he gets frustrating sometimes

Well, that might be a relief. We shouldn't worry so much about it yet, I think

Unlucky as Garmin this year, too...

Date: 2013-07-05 03:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
It does indeed... And even better no SKy on the front and hardly a mention of pelvic fractures. Do I get points for Jens being awesome in a breakaway?

Of course, and cake... Lots and lots of cake.. And durdee meat on the BBQ. I think there will most def be a piƱata and a water slide.. and really whoever thought giving Andy a stick to swing about ought to be shot.

The world has gone crazy, but in a very nice way

I love that idea... And poor Christian being in pain and just getting in with a resigned shrug...

Not worried, just love a rumour

Yes guess so... They have only lost one haven't they... Even if it is vDv.. Aoh and Dave not getting yellow :((((

Date: 2013-07-05 03:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
We should all get points for Jens being awesome in a breakaway

Let's hope they had the foresight to lock away the shotguns

It is nice

But VDV won't mind too much because when it comes down to it, Cap will take better care of him than anyone

It's fun to think about. Sometimes

They've had a few crashes too, though and none of them look like they'll cause trouble in the mountains

Date: 2013-07-05 06:31 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
This made me grin

Never thought of that... Yes because it could all turn ugly very quickly, especially if Andy gets tipsy and someone teases Frank. Perhaps Chris will already have that sorted out.

He does. wonder if they'll have to tighten the screw in the plate. Ugh, doesn't bear thinking about.

It is, but then it makes my head hurt after a while, there are too many permutations.

Well there is Dan Martin.. And yes, I forgot Bauer and Hesjedal have been down too. I think prob about half the peloton have been on the Tarmac this year.

Date: 2013-07-05 07:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
He's just that awesome that we should all be rewarded

It's an odd thought of Chris Horner being the sober and sensible one ;P

Yeah, I don't want to think about either, but if it happens, I can just imagine Cap bringing him comic books to the hospital to read while he's got some time

Dan Martin doesn't seem like an overall contender though. I feel kind of sorry for Hejesdal this year, you know. Yeah- too many people have crashed and I don't like it :(

Date: 2013-07-05 09:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Amen to that... And also to Jens and Jans... The new double act.

I'm sure he'll just distract Andy in the usual way

SWEEET, and then he'd probably have to read them too him because he wouldn't be able to hold them with a sore shoulder bone. Bet he would do all the voices as well. Britain would just look aghast but only for a second, then he'd smile and settle down to listen :)

Yep, Hesjedal has a horrid year with I,Knesset and crashes and injury everywhere he goes.

It feels like more than usual, but it probably isn't

From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
I'm sure they'll be adorable together again later in the Tour too

But what about everyone else? Could he really let Andy's house get all destroyed by drunk people?

He's probably used to Cap reading comic books to him by now, though, and it sends him right to sleep

Hopefully he'll have a better end to the year

I think we say that every year

Did you ever find out what happened to Jakob, btw?

I am counting on it.. They are sharing a room, so have plenty of time to plan. Goodness knows how Jens is going to get Bobby time though?

It's a party, Chris will expect it. He's only going to worry about making sure Andy is safe and having a good time. Other than making sure no one has access to guns, the others get to party. BUT they will help with cleaning up in the morning.

Oh bless Cap and VDV

Another nor for Vielta and Worlds? I miss Matti sighs

Saw a graph which showed the no of abandons at stage 6 per year. This year is about average, but what the hell went on in 1996? there were about 32 out already.

He was there hiding with the others, came in 46th in same time as everyone else. Worryingly only one Astana rider was with him, the other 3 were 14 mins back. :(

Date: 2013-07-06 06:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Jens always manages to find time for Bobby

Chris will be too busy dealing with hungover Andy to help clean up too ;)

They are totally amazing together

I bet you don't miss Matti as much as Jakob does :P

It's not like the end result of 1996 was anything to cheer about either

I also saw that he did pretty decently today. I am talking about happy things about the stage like that. I am not talking about anything to do with anyone who won. Ever

Date: 2013-07-06 11:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
I hate to admit this, but where is Bobby? Did he go to Saxo after Sky? I can't remember. I am so sorry Jens :o Yeah I know, but will lovely adorable bouncy Jans get the hint? Will Jens have to make excuses or worse still tell him about the birds and bees. He's Prob not that young, but I have fun with it :)

That is all part of his plan too. No one ever likes to clear up after the party. Besides which I imagine Andy will take a lot of long after, he just doesn't't know when to stop.

All of the long suffering love we like to imagine. This fascination is down to you ... I mean that in a very nice, complimentary, hugs you, sort of way. Of course they do give you gold to work with.

For such a nice comment, and for not mentioning Frank and Jakob... I have used my special new George icon just for you... Yes he does miss Matti, but they have rest day soon, after the coach transfer from hell. Maybe astana will fly them... There are only six left after all.

Hahahaha Riis, Ullrich and Virenque ... What a podium..

No, we shall not mention ... That.. Ever again. Though I will say that I take my words back about little Pete K...what a ride. And yes Jakob, was there until the very end, and then exploded as Danish Newspapers say. Still the Astana post sounded pleased with him, he can still do it. Othervhappynthings from the stage are Quintana and Andy being good up hills and down too.

I think Bobby went to BMC actually
In my head, Jan was totally being sexed up by Andy because Andy is way too excited by the yellow jersey ;)

I'm sure Andy will be very grateful to Chris for everything afterwards though

I do like the ones that give me good stuff to work with the most. I mean, if it wasn't for sweaty Cav/George hugs in 2009, I wouldn't be writing this stuff now. Probably

Even if they do have to drive, I'm sure Matti can keep Jakob entertained over the phone for that long
I saw the new icon- I like it. So does this Cav in my icon

I know. That's like the ultimate of bad

Yeah, Pete was amazing from what I heard, but I would still have picked Bernie over him ;) I'm glad Jakob is doing well and that Andy wasn't massively down either. I still prefer to live in my headcanon world where Brad is just owning everyone ;)

From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Oh OK, at least he's there which Jens will be pleased about... Well we all know what Andy is like with bright shiny things... I think I may be a bit worried for Jan... All those gangly limbs and bright toothed smile will be hard to keep in order.

Chris is wonderful like that, and I'm sure Andy realises it and is very very happy that he has him.

Yes the sweaty hug ones are very enduring. it's funny how you can see a picture and perhaps it something about their expression or the way they are stood that sparks the imagination. I'm glad you like the icon, I though he looked rather fab in it.

Well Matti does have a lot of arrows in his quiver...I'm sure he'll think of something.

Pete was special... And interviewed well..

Nothing wrong with head canon, it's perfectly fine. Brad will always be awesome

I'm sure he trusts BMC to look after Bobby well enough
I don't think Jan will mind too much if he's getting some nice sex out of it

Andy is very lucky indeed

2009 was an epic year for sweaty hug pictures. It was also when Brad and Dave were riding together, which helped a lot with shipping them

I wonder how many of his plans involve engaging Jakob in phone sex

Bless him.

Fun fact, in my headcanon, Andy wins this year's Vuelta ;)

Date: 2013-07-07 10:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Oh that Andy... How's he explaining this to Chris... Just a tour fling!!

Andy should remember how lucky he is

Some of my fav pics came from that year, the cafe stop ones where they are just gazing at each other and laughing.

Umm, well it is Matti, and you know Jakob would be disappointed if sex didn't arrive at some point. But he will also just totally hold him and soothe all his anxieties away. Jakob is new at this GC game, and he worries still.

:)

I like your head canon... Give it free rein

SEPARATE 'VERSE. This is what we should say whenever things don't fit with what else we've thought of.

I'm sure he does

Oh, that's one of my favourites too

Jakob is totally lucky to have Matti and I hope he reminds Matti of this when they get to see each other again

I have such a nice plan for them. They win all the races, have a bunch of awesome sex and basically take over the world together. I just love them how they are in my head right now. I wish I had time to write it all down, but I've got so many other things to finish first

Date: 2013-07-07 11:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
I shall endeavour to remember this phrases, it is very useful. I love it when we can mix and match the guys how we like and all the verses and universes are possible.

They really are made for each other, Chris and Andy sitting in a tree K I S S I N G

:D the way they are just gazing at each other and enjoying each others company (read falling in love), the other team members might just as well not exist.

Matti doesn't need reminding, he knows... All those special little moments they share, when words aren't needed at all. They are telepathic like that and so adorable.

You should write notes and keep them, or just go with the happy place and write it now.

Date: 2013-07-07 11:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
It's good that we don't have to just stick to one version of events so we can make a whole lot of things happen

I massively hope they get to race together again (soon)

I think it started a long time before that between them, but I bet the whole love and actual relationship parts weren't happening until they were on the same team

I'm sure Matti likes being reminded occasionally though

Oh, I already have some notes, just so I could keep things straight. I mean, I could write this, but then what would happen to that poor hooker fic?

Date: 2013-07-07 11:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
:D

Will they fit one in between the tour and Vuelta? Eneco maybe? If not then a training camp surely

Would make more sense that way, or at least they spent more time together so it gave them time to make sense of the feelings. Wish they were still on the same team...

He does, but Jakob has funny ways of showing him. matti loves them all though...

Now that was a very understand comment, because you know full well how I feel about that hooker fic :)))
As long as you have notes all will be well

From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
I worry about Chris going to the Vuelta you know- it might mean he misses one or both of the other American races and is he going to want to do that? I don't know, of course, and he might be able to fit everything in, but I still worry

Plus, sexing each other up was way easier when they got to room together at races ;)

That's just what makes Jakob so special and part of why Matti loves him in the first place

I wrote like three sentences of it last night too
I have happy mental images too :)

Yeah, but you just worry about your boys all the time. He'll be fine... she says with utmost confidence.

It would certainly help, though I seem to remember some spectacular phone sex

I'm not going to argue at all, and may make you a special sweaty hug icon.

YAAY.. it's coming... sentance by sentance
I have said it before, but it really is a shame that you can not project your thoughts at will

Date: 2013-07-08 05:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Yes, you're right- I do worry an awful lot

Ah, the phone sex- good times :)

Sweaty hug icons are always welcome. Not that I have anymore space for icons currently....

It definitely is taking a while, but I am getting there
I know- that would be so much easier

Date: 2013-07-09 05:51 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
It is perfectly fine, all the boys love that you do, because they get such great fic.

Not arguing there lady

How have you managed to fill up your icon space again! I am on it as soon as I get home, you'll have to throw some out...oh the trauma, I hate that. I feel especially bad when Matti gets chucked overboard.

And that is all that matters, well that and you have fun writing it :)

If only sci Fi could keep up with RL,

Date: 2013-07-09 11:17 am (UTC)

Oh, thank you. I wish the boys would behave a bit more for me sometimes though

:)

I didn't exactly fill it up. My icon space ran out recently and I didn't renew it because I still have some paid account time left so I'm just going to renew them both at the same time to make things easier for me

It's a little hard sometimes, but mostly fun, yes

It would make our lives so much easier

That's just... a bit odd. But maybe a srs/not srs GC guy suits Cav best. Wonder if they get a BOGOF with Frank?

Date: 2013-07-04 10:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
I guess Cav would want it guaranteed that he would still have his dedicated team at GTs, he won't want to end up in a SKY situation again. LOL the thought of Frank as the get one free ... Poor Frank
Prob close to the truth though...

Date: 2013-07-04 10:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] laura-anne.livejournal.com
For sure. I can't imagine how Andy would like it either, he's never ridden on a team with a big sprinter, has he? And you know that Cav would have to be getting the best end of that deal.

Well, if the cap (of shame) fits... although neither of them is looking like a great deal at this point tbh. :/

Date: 2013-07-04 10:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
That is a valid point that I had forgotten... Yes he's only been GT and classics teams. I'm racking my brains to think of a team that runs a top sprinter and a very good GC man... Apart from Sky last year I can't think of one. I'm not counting VDB at Lotto, or Farrar at GRS. Maybe Kristoff and J rod at Katusha

I think that Cav would insist on it...

I have high hopes for Andy this year, not GC but stage win .... That would help

Date: 2013-07-04 10:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] laura-anne.livejournal.com
It's not really something that can be done easily. Not in the same race anyway.
Even without taking personalities into account, you'd have to favour Cav on performance. :p

I really want to see him kick some butt in the Alps like he did that year Sastre won the Tour and he was just crazy good but totally out of contention. A comparatively low pressure thing.

Date: 2013-07-05 08:41 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
No, it isn't, and probably explains why we don't see it.
Absolutely... Cav would win on both counts personality and performance.

I want that too, no pressure. Just get out there and enjoy it. and then see get to see that smile.
